carter

i know that i'm very fortunate to have many, praying friends. so today, i'm calling you out and asking for some prayer.

this is carter. he is one of my delta friend's 5 month old little boy.

the bones in his skull have fused early causing him to have a severely flat head. (my husband told me the medical name for this condition, but i can't remember my own name most days...) right now, it's just a flat head. but if left uncorrected, it could start to affect his brain.

anyway, he is checking into lebonheur's at 6am tomorrow morning for the 1st of possibly 3 surgeries to try and fix the problem. they don't know how long they'll be in the hospital because it depends on how the surgery goes, and there is an unknown period of time in which he will have to wear a helmet. this is one of the most laid back kids on the planet (didn't cry at all for the ct scan), but i don't imagine the coming weeks are going to be his fondest memory of life.

so, tomorrow morning (or whenever) please lift up the little guy. and pray for wisdom/clarity for the doctors. for no unforeseen complications. for a smooth operation. for peace for his parents. for healing. for the fear of watching your child be wheeled back to an operating room to be replaced with peace and the knowledge that god has had this on his agenda from way back when. he's got this covered.

Isaiah 43:1-3 (ish)
"fear not, for i have redeemed you. i have called you by name; you are mine. when you walk through the waters, i will be with you. and the waves shall not overcome you. when you pass through the fire, you'll not be burned. the flames will not consume you. for i am the lord, your god, the holy one of israel, your savior."

I have knots in my stomach reading that knowing how hard it is. I have already sent up many prayers and will continue. Do I know who this is?

Also, your boys are precious!
