last hoorah before school starts

we headed back down to the beach last week to chill for one last time before school starts.  william starts KINDERGARTEN in 10 days!  and i'm trying not to think about it.  i'm not ready for that milestone quite yet.

the first morning, the little people were itching to get out there and play!

and yes, wes made sure all of his cars were lined up perfectly as soon as we came back to the condo!

after a brief rest, we headed out to ride go-carts.

there was more pool time.

and ice cream.

and extra, extra long bedtime stories.

more slides.

and time spent chillin' on the lazy river.

and of course, reed wanted to be just like his brothers!  it didn't matter if he was in the pool or not!

my people are pool people...obviously.  but since we were at the beach, we decided to actually go to the beach at least once while we were there!!

and reed liked the giant sandbox!

wes got wet within 2 seconds of being there.

and this was about all mama was able to get with the uncooperative people that she brought to the beach!

but we did manage to kinda/sorta get a family picture while we were there.

see that kid in the middle??  did i mention he's going to be a kindergartener? yikes...mama needs another vacation.

first trim

i took reed to get his haircut today for the first time.  it was nowhere near as big of a fro as wes had...

but, i was still getting the comments about what a cute girl he was from the idiotic people that obviously don't know that girls don't wear blue john johns with tractors and frogs.  (and we wonder what's wrong with society.)

before...

during...

after...

now if i could just get the boy to wear shoes, we'd be in business!

yardwork

1.  get the tractor up and going, and get the game face on.

2.  use the legs and hips or you'll hurt your back.

3.   pay careful attention, and watch where you are going.

4.  if the fence jumps out in front of you, just back it up slowly.

5.   then get your groove going again.

6.  and when you crash and fall, call the whole thing off and go inside for some juice.

the best time of day

is by far post-bathtime!

anybody that has ever been around a boy who has been outside for more than 30 seconds surely understands!

he's got it

reed finished up his swimming lessons last week.  i don't know if he's just been watching his brothers all summer or what, but he learned how to float in just 3 weeks.  and that in itself was pretty impressive because we had to skip a week for bible school and skip another week for GI issues that don't really need to be mentioned here!   :)

so...if he happens to fall in water wearing summer clothes, he's got it!

and if he falls in wearing winter clothes, he's got it!

and if somebody wants to toss him around and make him do back flips, he's got that too!

birthday boy

what a great first birthday reed had!

he woke up and got to drink his morning milk on his very own bean bag!

he got to open presents throughout the day!

he got his first taste of ice cream!

he patiently waited on his cake...

and then wondered what in the world he was supposed to do with it?!?

but he soon figured that out!

yummy!

then he watched while his brothers "helped" him open presents!

and then he just decided to take his toys and run away.

but he did get a little worried when grandmother looked like she was going to slip out the door with buzz lightyear!

but now that all of his toys are put away just like he wants them, he is sound asleep.  as are the other two.  guess where i'm heading?
