our trip to little rock wasn't exactly what we hoped. william broke his foot the night before we left for southerns, so wes was the only one that got to play this year. he got one win, and the mississippi boys always have a good time together! we only had to deal with one day of rain, but we did get to see the new top gun movie during the delay, so it was ok!
another week spent in jackson at river hills and ridgeland preparing for the qualifying was another week well spent. everybody had a great time on the courts with friends all week, and william managed to walk away in 2nd place after carving his way through the bracket and playing 5 great matches. he lost in the finals 11-9 in a third set breaker to a friend from the coast. and then he and his buddy, patrick, from madison turned around a few minutes later and won the doubles.
msu was not good this year. i don't know how you go from being the national champs to being 100% pitiful, but that was certainly the case this year. it's still fun in starkville, but we are hoping for a bit of improvement before next year!
wes wasn't sad to head out for the summer. he's not the biggest fan of school, but he did at least give me a smile by the middle school sign as we said goodbye to tms.
i got a few pics from school of reed with his buddies. his class did a presentation for chapel one day. tristan, weston, and reed are not spirit crushers! he was also supposed to wear a white shirt that day, but may is hard, y'all.

structure was honored by the school board for being awesome and having an undefeated year. apparently william missed the memo that you were supposed to wear a collared shirt, but nobody is actually surprised. oh well, stevie ray was well represented!
tupelo golf won the state championship again this year. we weren't top 6 and didn't contribute to the win, but we were on the team and were happy to celebrate the win! :)
we hit up the DMV on wes' birthday to take the dreaded permit test. we weren't sure how that was going to go, but he passed it and now is my official chauffeur. i've only had to yell a few times! :)

we celebrated with sunday lunch, and then we finished the day with a few hours on the pickle ball courts. so much fun!
william was asked to entertain the crowd for 20 minutes before mrs. rish's piano recital. he was a hit, as usual. then he closed it out with a medley that he made up of a few popular songs. it's always a good day when you get to hear him play music!
wes was called into action last minute for the regional rehab tournament. arnaldo lost his partner last minute, so wes came to the rescue. they played 4 matches, and then they walked away with some prize money!! :) super speedy baseline guy plus awesome hands at the net guy = 1st place!
the USTA came up with a new tournament format where they waterfall teams and then the teams play each other for points. this was the first one that mississippi had ever held, and we tried it out. somehow, all hensons ended up on the same team together.

william was inducted into the national english honor society. honor...yes. the actual ceremony, however, was insane. this one speaker (whose name i won't mention) got up there and declared himself "the top 1%," and if all of these kids would pay attention he would tell them how to become successful. he tooted his own horn for 20 minutes, and by the end i was texting with my friend and unable to contain my laughter any longer. it was one of those times like when you start laughing in church and cannot control it. chase was hissing at me to stop it, but he was completely entertained as well. i mean, this guy wrote two books which were "stratospherically successful" and they were second only to the bible. what?!? we for sure made it known that the little display that he put on was NOT how you were to address anyone ever!! and also.....we won't be visiting his clinic anytime soon!
but, way to go, smart kiddos!!

we packed into first methodist with all of synergy and their parents for the showchoir banquet. we celebrated a great season one last time, and the boys played one more time together.
william was awarded the renaissance man award (because he can play all the things) and the bluesman award (for the most soulful performance of the year). we are going to miss this group of guys being together next year, but we are so thankful that they entertained us so well!
william and wes both were named as rotary scholars this year....top 30 in their classes. there are 500 in their class, so that's worth a round of applause! we celebrated with all of the smart people with a few snacks and some recognition.
