wes is 12

wes celebrated his last year before teenagerdom last week.  he had a great day full of cupcakes for breakfast, pyro's for supper, and his loser friends that couldn't make their way out of the escape room!!  :)  his one request was for a weighted blanket, and now he's sleeping like a champ!

birthday tribute:

This middle man turned 12 today. He came into the world on his own terms 12 years ago, and he still is very much content doing his own thing. He loves to be the one in control of the radio, and loves music of all types. He hates wearing jeans, brushing his hair, and wearing a shirt when he sleeps. He loves the Dodgers, his dog, and any mexican food. He doesn’t want to be the center of attention. But, he can carry on a conversation with a tree. He will make best friends out of any and everyone. Wes loves when our neighbor grills out. He goes over to chat and comes home with burgers, ribs, ice cream, and bones for Abe. He might be the most empathetic person that I know. He cares and loves BIG. He puts soooo much into giving gifts and has come up with some very thoughtful ones through the years. He can take the fastest shower on the planet. He likes to cook and bake. Spelling is not his thing, but he loves to read. He likes to spend his days in Starkville watching MSU sports. He is not interested in clothes or even if they match. He loves a bowl of cereal before bed. Giovanni Oradini is his favorite tennis player. He likes to dance with mama in the kitchen. He loves a good milkshake or bowl of ice cream. He likes to watch the building shows on HGTV. And, when he grows up he wants to have his own Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives show where he goes around and eats food to tell people how good it is. He likes to be on a tennis court or a golf course when it’s sunny. He gives great hugs. He does not like ankle socks. He leaves the best selfies on my phone for me to find later. He will disappear to bed if he’s tired. The boy likes his sleep. The number one thing on his birthday list was a weighted blanket so “I can sleep even better.” He loves a corny joke. He hates to lose (especially to his brothers), but he will cheer them on in whatever they are doing. This compassionate kid is going to go far, and I’m glad God gave me a front row seat to see what He has in store. Happy birthday, Wes!

school golf

tupelo high school won the state championship this year.  the 7th graders didn't actually have anything to do with it, but we were great support and practice partners!!  looking forward to the coming years.

read-y reed

when you are ready to leave for reed's baseball game and can't find him, you should look in the tree.  this kid always, always has a book, and i guess the tree looked like a good spot.

wes knows how to pick his friends

when your middle child can talk to a tree, you better believe that he is all over the neighbor when he is outside grilling.  he goes over and comes home with all manner of food from hamburgers to ice cream.  but, he hit the jackpot this week when he came back home with....ribs!  fall off the bone without even trying type of ribs!  i'm pretty sure dr. mike has a new best friend!!
