party animals

we are the ultimate party animals over here.  we spent the end of the year playing tennis, putting up christmas decorations, watching mississippi state win their bowl game and get in a huge brawl, hanging by the fire pit in the rain (well, some of us), cleaning our guns, eating some jiffy pop for the first time, and shooting some roman candles to send 2020 packing!

2020 was definitely not the year we had planned back in january.  i know it was a disaster for many.  these kids actually said it was the best year ever...except for the masks!  i guess if you've got to be stuck at home and with the same people for almost a year, we've got it pretty good!

sausage

we love some deer sausage around here.  no matter how much we grill, it always all gets eaten.  poppa must have had a good food plot this year because our freezer will have some for the next year!  everybody was glad they could go spend some time in the delta at deer camp.  (and thanks to BR for sharing a stand with wes!)

christmas

the little people wanted green bean bundles for christmas, so i put them to work making them.  it's lots easier when you have someone else do the dirty work!  (this was after pies, cakes, and custard...)

christmas eve pics! (abe was in a posing mood.)

obligatory pic on the steps before coming downstairs!

i didn't take a ton of pics this year...blame it on covid.  but, it was a gun and AirPods type of christmas.  and, shoes!

thankful that everyone was healthy and able to even have christmas this year! our garbage men were not happy this week, though, i'm sure!  :)

christmas in jackson

it wasn't typical this year due to covid, but we made the most of it.  instead of everyone piled up inside around the tree, we sat socially distanced around a fire pit in the driveway.  thankfully, the weather cooperated, and the rain held off until just after we finished opening presents!  it was a unique detour, but we are hoping things are back to normal next year!

sushi chef

reed has been begging to make sushi.  so, the day that school got out we loaded up on sushi supplies so that he could feed us all.  and, he did!  he enjoyed it himself, too!

almost christmas break

we kicked off the holidays with the madrigals' sing feaste (reed wanted to know why they misspelled "feaste")!  i don't understand old english either, but they were really good.  because of covid, this year they were outside.  it was a fun friday night with something to do finally!

we got a quick lunch in at amsterdam with poppa and kakki.

even abe is in the christmas spirit!

the weirdest sushi place

william and i were killing time between matches at a tournament a few weeks ago, and we ended up having the strangest lunch!  everybody here loves sushi, so we thought we would try out this sushi hole in the wall in jackson.  they only want you to order exactly what you can eat.  so, you just order a few rolls and then you can keep ordering more as you go if you are still hungry.  but there's a catch....if you don't eat it all, they charge you!!  they are serious about their leftovers!  but, with the way we eat over here, i don't have to worry about that!  i can't even remember the name of the place, but we will certainly be back!

reed's "new" rifle

Reed is obsessed with all things firearms. All he wants for Christmas is guns and things to do with guns (and some shoes)!! 😉 We spend a lot of time at the range with this kid and his pistol, but he was recently given a rifle that belonged to his great-grandfather. We aren’t quite sure exactly what it is yet. I have some guys checking it out, but one of them thinks it’s a post war (WW1?) parlor/gallery rifle. It has a cool octagon barrel. Let me just say that I don’t know anything about it, but it is smooth as butter and so much fun to shoot. Taylor would be so happy to see Reed loving it so much! And, I’m going to need to start a fund for ammo!

scenes from Thanksgiving

it was a smaller group at the beach this year due to corona, but we had a fabulous time nonetheless.  the weather was perfect...75 and sunny the entire time.  and, we ate all week long.  perfection!
