i think it's safe to say that william didn't get or hasn't yet acquired aunt holly's artistic abilities. sadly, he was blessed with his parents' genes. but that doesn't stop him from bringing home artwork from school everyday. today as i looked through his folder, i found this little gem. can you tell who that is??
if you can't tell, that is adam and eve in the garden of eden.
"the big one is adam, and the little one is eve. the blue tree is the one you can eat. the red tree is the one you can't eat. they are nekkid because they haven't sinned yet. that's why i didn't draw a snake. if there was a snake, and if i erased one of those apples...then they would have already sinned. and i would have to draw them some clothes."
i just might go frame this one. and say a little prayer that he will continue to think that this is what "nekkid" looks like for a long, long time.

baw
i was trying to put reed in the car last week, and he was throwing himself a little hissy. he doesn't mind sitting in his car seat, so i didn't know what his problem was.
so after struggling with him a for a minute or two, i held his face close to mine and asked, "what do you want?"
he got a totally serious look on his face and said, "baw!! baw!" and then he pointed to a basketball at my feet. which i handed him. and he was totally happy. and now we ride around town every day like this.

luigi and guido
a frozen pizza will no longer feed us. it hasn't been able to feed us for a while. please say a prayer for me when all these people are teenagers.
anyway, a few nights ago, we decided to make some pizzas. or rather...luigi and guido decided to make some pizzas. obviously, they have watched the movie, cars, one too many times, but it still made for good pizza-making names!!
they carefully spread the sauce and cheese.
then they placed the pepperonis. luigi's were perfectly spaced, and guido's weren't spaced at all!!
but they were yummy, nonetheless! and we even had 2 pieces left over! now if i could just figure out how to get leftovers out of every other meal around here...

chase saw this on a blog that he checks, and we were both cracking up watching it this morning. i can't help but think of my dad! if he was a therapist, this is the kind of advice he would give out!!

if it has to be 110 degrees outside...
then this is a good place to be.
except when you keep falling down on the slippery concrete.
but, even then it's still cute!

this is probably not good
at least it's not the bookshelves or the table upstairs like it has been previously, but i'm seeing stitches in our future!

cold front
yesterday, a cold front came through. i guess.
all i know is that i looked at the thermometer in the kitchen and saw that it said it was 97 degrees outside. so i immediately hollered at my people to get out the door because "it's not hot today!!" who would have thought that 97 would be considered not hot?
we haven't had a day like this in forever! and after today's sprinkles, it is in the low 90s. whohoo. i may need to put a jacket on these people this afternoon. heck, it's almost winter out there.

nothing like cupcakes at 10am
william got to take cupcakes to school to celebrate his birthday this morning. wes couldn't understand why william was having another birthday, but when i told him that he could go to school and eat one...he was very excited for his brother's birthday. again.
after spending a little time with his class, i'm thinking that i need to be a kindergarten teacher. they were all so quiet. and nice. and polite. it was very strange!! she obviously has the touch. or she seriously drugged them! maybe miss dennis will just move in with me. *sorry it's a little blurry...i didn't change my settings from the day before because i was trying to get this picture before reed pulled that map off of the wall in the back corner!. you get the idea.*

i have a new title.
it's official. i am now the mom of a kindergartener! wow.
we had open house at william's school last week to see his room and meet his teacher, miss dennis.
and he was very excited to find out that several people from his sunday school class are in his room. including allie and knox!
this week, he started full time. and of course, i made him pose on his first day!
and it didn't take him long to shove those hands into his pockets and become a little preppy boy. (definitely his daddy's genes!)
after talking to my friend, leigh ann, i was fully prepared to have an emotional breakdown on the first day of school. i had the volume turned up and "i hope you dance" all ready in the cd player of my car. and a box of kleenex on the console. but i didn't need any of that. he was so excited, so it was hard for me to feel too bad. but don't think it didn't cross my mind that he only has 12 years left at home. i just kept telling myself that starkville is only an hour away. we can drive down for supper. and football games. and basketball games. and i better hurry up and teach him how to wash his clothes.
wes wanted to make sure that william could find his room on the first day, so he was by william's side the entire morning.
and poor wes. he thought he was starting kindergarten, too. after we dropped william off, i told him to come on, and he asked, "are we gonna go find my room now?" after i replied that his school hasn't started yet, he got the sad puppy dog look and asked, "well what am i gonna do today?" it was pitiful. he then asked to go to newk's, and i obliged. he doesn't even like newk's. he just wanted the breadsticks and sweet tea. heck, at that point, i would have driven him to florida to meet mickey mouse because i felt so bad for him!! but he felt much better after a few swigs of sweet tea!!
and william was happy to report that he colored an owl, played with trains, and played with a transformer. he also said it was fun and that he'd go back tomorrow. let's hope it stays that way!!

william's 5th birthday party
we had a morning full of play, play, and more play. and then we threw some baseball cake in the mix. that made for a happy group of little boys...and a few girls! :)
then we came home, ate lunch, and he opened everything from watches, a new backpack and lunch box, and legos, to swords, snakes, and everything in between!
if you can't tell, all this makes for one happy 5 year old!
*if you are my friend on facebook, check back there in a few days and i'll have all the pictures posted. i took a lot, and you can check out your kid (or some kid you know) having a ball! if you are not my friend...shame on you.*
