that time of year!
a few weekends ago, we had our neighbors over for crawfish. it was so good, the company was great, and we topped it off with baskin robbins....so it was pretty much perfect! that was despite the fact that chase and shannon decided to make it as hot as humanly possible. they sprinkled something over them that was supposed to make them extra hot. the hotness didn't transfer to the crawfish, and they were perfect. i ate one potato, however, and i'm just thankful i still have lips. i stuck to crawfish after that.
none of the kids except wes would even try them. he's my adventurous eater, and he declared them yummy!
reed wouldn't eat them, but he had the BEST time playing with them! he played for over an hour with his pet. since it was a "fish"...he had to have a bowl of water for it to swim in. and then he proceeded to swim him for forever.
he was soaking wet after an hour of playing with his crawfish, but he was so happy! and later that night, he cried himself to sleep because i wouldn't let his "fish" sleep with him. aside from that and my near loss of lips, it was a great way to spend a saturday night. we'll definitely be doing this again soon!!

he loves his mama.
my kids brought home so much stuff from school at the end of the year. i've slowly been going through it and weeding out what needs to be kept and what doesn't. as i was pulling things out of william's backpack, i came across a small blue notebook in his pencil box. i don't have any idea what this notebook was used for. i opened it and on the very first page was a sweet surprise.
i smiled. and then i leaned back against the kitchen counter and was excited to flip through this notebook and find all kinds of sweet drawings and notes. so i turned the page.
and i found....a bank robber?
two guys sword fighting?
a ninja?
there were no more sweet notes on any of the other pages. each one had a person holding a sword, a gun, or parachuting out of a helicopter to go beat the bad guys. not quite what i was expecting. oh well...if he ends up becoming a sword wielding, bank robbing ninja, at least i know that he loves his mama! :)

another snaggletooth!
we got in from a lightning delayed baseball game late last night, but despite the exhaustion creeping up on everyone...wes provided some excitement!
and he's proudly been telling anyone who will listen about losing his first tooth! :)

and we're through!
we are now officially enjoying summer vacation at our house. we finished up on tuesday with awards day and class parties for all my kids. and yes...they were all at the same time in three different places. thankfully, i have great friends/teachers that give my kids rides and pretend like my kids are theirs when i'm not there! and, i'm usually pretending like one of theirs is mine as well!!
we go to a christian school, so each child gets a character award. william got the award for wisdom.
he also won the reading contest in his class. all he had to know was that there was a trophy involved, and he was set. i had to make him stop reading on more than once occasion.
they then went to Jump and partied. he partied too hard, and he ended up limping out of there. chase and i played it off, but when he was still limping the next day he ended up on the table getting an x-ray to make sure his hip wasn't broken. it wasn't, and it's getting better day by day. he's only slightly limping today, and he says it won't stop him from playing baseball tonight. whew!
wes got an award for perfect attendance, and he also got the patience award.
obviously, my children need to work on not looking miserable while they are receiving awards. he at least looked more happy while riding on the train!
reed didn't have awards day. he just had play day. he left out that morning when one of his teachers came by to pick him up, and i got there at the end of his party. but he was pumped at breakfast about it being his last day!
wes told me about 4 times that night that he didn't have school the next morning, so i needed to not wake him up. i granted him his request, and he got up at 830. reed is a late sleeper, too, so they are both already enjoying summer break! william is a consistent 7am waker upper, and that's fine by me! i'm not having to drag anybody out of bed or force anyone to eat breakfast. my only concern is what time the pool opens. hello, summer!! so good to see you!

wes is five!
my middle man turned 5 yesterday. he was counting down the days, and by the time friday arrived he was ready. i normally CANNOT get him out of the bed in the mornings. i had no problem on this day! maybe we should have birthdays once a week. it would make my life much easier!! he has been asking for a dog for his birthday for months. i couldn't talk his daddy into it, so he ended up with a fish. he loves it. he may love it too much. we've discussed multiple times that you can't take him out to pet him, but i'm not sure he cares. here's to hoping goldie makes it a week.
he started out celebrating at his baseball game the night before, and he was an expert at blowing out candles by the time the day was over. despite william coming home from school with a stomach bug/food poisoning, we did what wes wanted all day long. that meant that i spent much of the afternoon in the floor playing with legos. and then we finished the night off at de casa (because according to my boys there is no other restaurant in this town) and then got frozen yogurt topped with nerds, sprinkles and gummy worms at tutti fruiti. he's had his sugar allotment for the year!
happy birthday, wes! we love you!

william's game
as i mentioned earlier, baseball is killing me. i mean...it's just hard to have kids on different teams that play at the same times. i missed william's first game, but miss hayley kept me in the loop with a few pics.
on the mound...
in the dugout...
getting ready to bat...
william and jack...
i finally got to see william play baseball this past thursday night. after two years of t-ball/coach pitch, we have moved up to the big leagues this year. it's still coach pitch, but we have umpires, we keep score, and you only get 3 outs. that works out well for our team (we can hit). it didn't work out so well for our opponents this game. i don't know if we just had a good night or what. i guess i'll find out at the next game!
reed was ready to cheer on the sidelines!
william started out at pitcher. they still make the pitcher wear a face mask.
he scooped up this ball and beat the runner to home plate for the out!
waiting on first...
he hit a double on his last at bat. "it went all the way to the outfield in the air!" poor kid...it could have been a home run if he had any speed!! luckily, his daddy walked up just in time and got to see him hit. he was excited!
reed was bored by this time, but he was still comfy in his lightning mcqueen chair!
final...
snacking with noah!
wes played at the same this night. they don't keep score, but he said they won!
i like to see them having so much fun, but man...all these games being played at the same time/back to back is wearing me out. (the season just started.) i'm going to go crazy in 2 years when i have 3 kids on 3 different teams. i guess i'll be looking at this for a really long time...
