bowling with boys
wes had his birthday party on friday with his buddy sam. their birthdays are close together, and they have the same friends, so it made sense. with all those boys at the bowling alley, it was complete and utter chaos, but they had a blast. (and i have a new appreciation for their teacher!!!)
and this pretty much sums it up....
happy birthday wes and sam!!!

what i want to be when i grow up
the early childhood classes put on their end of the year play last week. it was called "what i want to be when i grow up," and we had everything from garbage men to sailors to artists to the president! the future president and a sailor reside at my house!
reed "is gonna be a sailor in the US navy when i grow up." as long as they accept complete goofballs into the navy, he'll be ok. i don't know who he morphed into when he got on the stage, but it was hysterical. he was singing as loud as he could. and dancing. y'all...the dancing. i never expected this shy kid to put on the performance that he did, but he definitely did!
mr. sailor man got to introduce "my big brother, president wes henson!"
president wes nailed his lines and his solo in which he had to recite the names of all the presidents. in order. it must be nice to have a young brain!!!
i tried to get a picture of honey with the sailor and the president, but i don't know what it is about me with a camera. impossible.
we'll have to work on our picture-taking abilities before we reach the white house!

the middle man is 7!
today, my middle man leaves the 6s behind. we've been counting down for several weeks now. don't you miss the days when everybody was so excited about YOUR birthday? his brothers couldn't wait for his birthday to roll around. the party isn't until this friday, but we were all pumped for today nonetheless!
(one day when he looks back at all his birthday pictures, he'll probably wonder if he ever wore clothes.)
(yeah. probably not.)
the boy has been asking for a dog for several years now. i finally talked his daddy into it, so....meet abe!
we actually gave him abe a few weeks early, and it's a good thing because it took some getting used to. i wanted a rescue dog, but for the first little bit...we weren't so sure he wanted to be rescued! he only, and i mean ONLY, liked me. he would run from everybody, and he really hated chase. he wouldn't go anywhere near him, and he growled and barked whenever chase walked in the room. to be fair, it wasn't just chase. it was all men. but, the man that lives in this house was ready to pack him up and send him back!
but we gave him some time, and he's turned out to be a really sweet dog. he loves everybody now...even chase. and he is as happy as can be in the backyard when we are gone. or when we are here!
he even hunkered down with us during the tornado!
poor dog doesn't know what he's gotten into!
but i'm pretty sure he knows he's loved, and there's one 7 year old that proves it to him every single day!
happy birthday, wes! we love you!

first recital
william started taking piano lessons at the beginning of this school year. i wasn't sure about letting him start even though he has been asking for a year or two. his ability to focus on one thing for any length of time is not stellar.....but when it comes to the piano, he proved me wrong! i thought i would be begging him to practice, but he doesn't mind sitting down to work through his week's lesson and just dilly dally around. he really enjoys it, and it's fun to see the smiles when accomplishes a hard piece!
he had his first recital this afternoon. he had a few fans there.
the church where he was supposed to have the recital was hit by the tornado last week, so we had to move it to the school. i wasn't sure about the recording capabilities since i didn't know if we were going to be in the gym or the hall, so i got him to play his piece for me a few days before at home.
he played it just like that at the recital except that he had to deal with falling trees! the trees they had set up behind the piano as a backdrop started to slowly fall in the middle of his song. instead of getting flustered, he just giggled his way through the song. it was pretty funny!
william with his teacher, mrs. rish
and some happy brothers to be finished sitting through that recital!
i tried all day long to get a picture of these three, and most of them looked like something along these lines.
until i finally got a decent one...
i guess we'll call that decent. ha!!
so...one year of piano is in the books. i hope there are many more to follow!!
