the halls are decked

this happened the weekend after thanksgiving, but who's keeping up?  we got everything looking like christmas around here and still have the 70 degree weather!  i'll take it!

wes was once again in charge of the nativity scene.  and once again everybody is all up in the stable getting as close to baby jesus as they can!

abe likes our tree!

all the little people got their ornaments for the year.  william got a baby grand piano, wes got barney fife, and reed got some M&Ms!  each one fits each kid perfectly!!

and all that decorating (term used loosely) can really a wear a boy out.

i guess he's just getting some energy for the weeks to come!  the push to christmas is on!

my fisherman

the 2nd grade learning fair is in the books.  i'm pumped that they changed it to the first week of december instead of the second week of may.  much less chaotic!  wes had to make a board on the story "the fisherman and his wife."  he loved his outfit....jeans and a vest!  ha!  we went all out!  he was the perfect fisherman!

thanksgiving at the beach

i know it's december and everyone has moved into christmas mode (somebody help me...not my favorite time of year), but i need to back up and give thanksgiving a shout out.  we spent the week at the beach with the entire henson side of the fam.

it was a little cool the first two days, but the rest of the week was toasty warm and in the 70s.

the heated pool was a hit again.  all day long.  every day.

we had lunch in seaside one day and spent the afternoon playing in the sun.

(reed in the middle of breaking his legs while showing off his whip/nae nae.)

we also played at alys beach one day before having lunch at george's.  yum!

late one afternoon, chase and i took our crew to play laser tag.  we had a blast!  it was only 7 minutes per round, but it's a great way to work up a sweat in those 7 minutes!!  and for the record, this delta girl put a whoopin' on everybody and led the way with the most kills by almost double.  ahem.  thank you very much!  :)

there was also a mirror maze.  i'm not as good at mirror mazes as i am with a weapon.  but it was fun (funny?) to watch my kids try to figure it out!

we hit up downtown rosemary beach because no trip would be complete without a visit to the sugar shack.  (at least according to wes...)

and of course there was plenty of beach time!

there were multiple card games daily.  uncle frank taught us new games, and uncle chase isn't above making little kids cry when they don't follow the rules!!!

there were water balloon fights.

and lots and lots of food was consumed!

we have all since recovered, and now we are ready to hang with these people again over christmas break!  hopefully those little people grow some tough skin between now and then because i hear that uncle chase is bringing his card-playing game face with him!

big day at our house

today marked a big day at our house.  this morning at church reed was recognized and received his award for reciting all 150 catechism questions.  he said them to the childrens' ce committee back in october, and we are all so proud of this accomplishment.  catechism is something that we have been working on for quite a while.  every morning in the car on the way to school, i would ask questions.  (i think i can ask all 150 in order without the book!)  reed listened to his big brothers go through the process, so the answers just kind of got burned in his brain over time!  he was the easiest of the three!  it's so nice to have a doctrinal basis to work from when they ask questions or we are explaining something.  and, wes is so happy that "we can finally just talk on the way to school in the mornings!"  so....way to go, reed!!

psalm 119:11 - i have hidden your word in my heart that i might not sin against you.

also, to add to the day, william and wes professed their faith in front of the church.  they went through the communicant's class and then went before the session last month and joined the church.  chase and i are very proud of them for claiming their faith as their own.

they each had to write out their favorite verses to share with the congregation.

wes - john 3:16 - for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life

william - 2 corinthians 5:21 - for he has made him who knew no sin to be sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of god in him

good words.  proud mama.
