2nd grade learning fair

reed had to make a habitat diorama for his learning fair this year.  i've never been a project person, but by the 3rd kid....projects are way down on my list.  duct tape...lego cactus...sand...perfect desert diorama!!  it looks like a 2nd grader did it because a 2nd grader did it!!!  can i get an amen?  it didn't compare to most of them on display, but he was perfectly happy with his sun (a reused planet from a solar system) and his cup of sand out of the bunker on #9.  i'm teaching resourcefulness over here!!

i was cooking supper one night, so i looked over to find big brother helping little brother with homework.  and, then i overhear the words "infinitive" and "that's just the beauty of the english language."  he was also showing him how to diagram sentences on the back.  i think we may have gone a little overboard for a 2nd grade language sheet.

wes had to choose an important citizen for an upcoming project.  he chose dr. ireland.  good choice!

as i was unloading groceries, i turned around and found a dog walking into the kitchen from the den.  not my dog, mind you.  abe was outside looking in the back door wondering what on earth was going on.  i have no idea how or when my neighbor's dog got in the house (or how long she had been inside), but at least she's friendly! :)

and the winner is...

william's class had a t-shirt design contest recently.  each kid came up with a design for a shirt that will be worn on their trip to washington d.c.  after everybody had submitted their design, the class voted on the top two to be made into t-shirts.  guess who's artwork will be walking around d.c.?

hunting season

the season is over for us for the year, but i had some boys who enjoyed it while it lasted.  thank goodness for poppa (and BR!) who get them in the woods.  because mama is just going to sit right here by the fire!!

weekend fun

william spent saturday in birmingham playing tennis.  our country club took some kids to play against a country club over there, and i'm happy to report that tupelo came away victorious!  he returned home minus a pair of pants (imagine that?), but he was proud of his victories.  *sigh*

meanwhile, the rest of the crew enjoyed the day (and win) in starkville!  we just pretended like ford was a little brother!!
