ornaments

every year each kid gets an ornament that represents them in some way....something that they like doing, eating, watching, playing, or somewhere they have been during the year.  it's fun to talk about them and what they enjoyed in the previous years while we pull them out and decorate the tree each year!  this year, i felt that it was appropriate that each kid get a golf ornament since that's where they spent every waking hour this past summer!  

harry potter coma

every year in second grade, the harry potter coma hits my kids.  reed has fallen prey to one of the best series of all time!  and, it's a read all the time/can't do anything else/read even if i only have time to read one paragraph type of problem!  i'm not complaining.  i was late to the harry potter world, but i fell into the same trap, and it sure is a fun one!  eat it up, reed!

6th grade nursing home visit

william's class collected goody baskets for local nursing home residents.  they delivered them one afternoon and spent time with those sweet men and women.  he said they talked, played games, some girls painted fingernails, and he played the piano.

i'm thinking this needs to be a yearly tradition, and next year i want to go!!  :)

veteran's program

william played at school for the veteran's program.  he did a fantastic job on a really hard arrangement of battle hymn of the republic/america the beautiful.  i didn't get a good recording, but he didn't play the entire piece.  i told him to get the whole thing for his recital so i could record it.  but, i did get a picture! best looking pianist that i know!

loser

several weeks ago, we all got a flu shot.  we always play the game to see who can show the least emotion, and every year we have the same loser.  we always think that THIS is going to be the year.  but, considering that chase had to go chase him down the hall to get him to the chair to get his shot.....

maybe next year will be THE year!

football season

well, football season has arrived again.  as mississippi state fans, we know all the highs and lows that come with each season.  by heart.  and, we lived them all over again this season decked out in our maroon and white each weekend!

the lsu game was nuts, and the campus was soooooo crowded.  we finally found a quiet spot on the drill field!

it's not common to be able to celebrate an absolute drumming of lsu!!  we'll certainly take it!!

we had some space beside us for the kentucky game, so honey came and joined us for a bit!

the camp house became our favorite spot to go pre or post game!

the blackout game meant "wear your cowboys gear" at our house!

and then it all went south for the egg bowl.  we were happy at the beginning with our non-traditional thanksgiving supper at bulldog burger with mr. ronnie!

and we were even warm in the 30 degree temps.  (wes: "mama, you made me wear so many clothes that i can't even tell what the temperature is out here!)

but then we sat through the game looking like this.  what a disaster!!  we lost our quarterback, the egg, and then a few days later.....our coach!

oh well.  such is the life of a mississippi state fan.  it was a fun season, but we are happy for the break!  looking forward to next year and what our new coach can bring to davis wade.  go dawgs!

straight As

(a little late, but better than never)

when you make straight As for the first 9 weeks, you get.....strange brew!!  they thoroughly enjoyed their butter beer, albino squirrels, and blueberry muffins!

here's to hoping we get to go back after the 2nd 9 weeks!
