there are friends...and then there are church kitchen friends. if you've worked together in the kitchen serving meals to hundreds of people, you get to know each other. and, these are some of the best! maybe one day i'll get around to writing a post about all of the things we've done (and all of the things we've messed up)! we had a lake retreat at pickwick a few weekends ago, and i managed to get a picture of us together for the first time. crazy.

tupelo country club traveled over to Birmingham to play against the juniors from inverness country club one afternoon. it was good to take advantage of the warmer weather for a weekend, and it was successful on the tennis front, too!
the next to last keyboard competition is in the books. william had to do a lot of things this year, and he received superiors in all of them along with some very nice comments from all of the judges.
He had to:
play a hymn for the congregation to sing along
play an arrangement of that hymn
play a different hymn and then modulate it into a different key of the judge's choosing
play a classical piece from memory
one more to go!
abe has grown fond of the fireplace lately. he'll jump up on the hearth and curl up until he gets too hot, and then he'll move to a more comfortable position. he has even figured out how to tell me that he wants me to turn it on! smart dog!

reed jumped in again with his harrisburg buddies for D NOW weekend. i'm pretty sure not much sleep was had throughout the weekend, but he enjoyed it nonetheless!
rob and julie were brave to host all the 7th grade boys. i told them that i'm positive their bathrooms will never be the same!
william, ryder, clay, and pop took off to memphis for a night of entertainment with tommy emmanuel. it's so fun that music has brought this group together, and they said that tommy put on quite the show! i'm not sure how long it had been since pop has seen 1am, but they all said it was totally worth it!
