ISS

 we (ok, maybe it's just me) have become addicted to the international space station.  we had fun watching and talking about the astronauts, bob and doug, as they launched earlier this summer and docked on the international space station.  i found an app that tells me when the ISS is flying over our house.  we have been out to see it lots of times.  it's amazing how fast it goes.  we even made the neighbors come stand out in the yard with us to watch one night!

 these people will do anything for food....that includes filling in divots on all 18 holes after a tournament.  but, they enjoyed their unlimited gatorades and the burgers afterwards!

home, home on the range

 reed loves to shoot, and he'd stay all day at the range just picking different targets (and timing himself for rounds) if you let him.  i'm going to need to find a cheap supplier of ammo....and fast!

tennis memphis

 we had quite the experience at new venue for a tournament in memphis.  the courts were really nice...the neighborhood surrounding it, not so much.  i guess i should have known this when we walked up and the entire place was gated, and the pro shop had bars on the windows.  there was no place to go between matches, so we spent lots of time in the car reading!  they had good results, but i'm pretty sure we won't be back any time soon!!  

Reed turns 11

Reed turned 11 on July 9th.  From the facebook birthday post:

Eleven years ago today, our family was made complete. Reed joined the party, and he’s kept us on our toes since. I’m pretty sure that there is nobody on earth who loves food as much as this one. He wants to know the menu for his next 5 meals at all times. He loves tacos and all things noodles. He can usually be found baking something after supper. Covid quarantine allowed him to hone his cookie brownie skills. Guy’s Grocery Games is his favorite show. He likes to sleep. He loves to swim. He likes to take Abe for a swim. He still likes to snuggle, and he gives the best hugs. He still hates anything with carbonation, and he drinks milk like crazy! MSU baseball is his favorite to watch. He’s not the most competitive person (which is a weird thing in our family), but it’s nice to have that person around from time to time! He likes Mexican Train. Playing Scrabble confuses his brain! He loves spending time with his friends, but he is totally happy on his own, too. He can ignore the world for hours at a time lost in a book. He got his birthday wish for a “black bike with gears and stuff and a waterbottle cage”…in a men’s size. He’s very thoughtful, and he’ll always offer you one of whatever he has. Except Whoppers. He hides those. He likes to fish. He doesn’t care for the barber shop. He is still a lego genius. He has developed a love of shooting this year, and this morning our sharpshooter got his very own pistol! We already hit the range today, and that kid is good, y’all. That Happy Birthday target didn’t know what hit it! Happy 11, Reed!

awards day for william

there was no physical awards day for tupelo middle school this year (another casualty of corona), but william still managed to bring home an award or two!

they had a virtual awards day, and he was awarded with the Spanish 1 award.  he also made the honor roll, and he made rotary scholars again....top 30 in his class (class of 500).  way to study, william!

i guess you only turn 40 once, so i may as well document it with the two pictures that i took!  sweet friends had a backyard quarantine party that lasted until midnight!  and, the boys made me some really fancy brownies.  :)  good day!
